Pregnant Employee/Return to Work

We have an employee who was out 2 consecutive days. Her manager says her pregnancy has been difficult and he is concerned for her. Since she was out for 2 days, he would like for her doctor to fill out a return to work release. She doesn't want to go back to the doctor. Can he make her go?

What does your policy state? We do not require a doctors note unless the employee is out for more than three days according to our policy. If another employee was out for two days would they be required to bring in a doctors note? I understand the supervisors concern but I do not think he can "make" her return to the doctor.

I guess my question to you would be, do you have a policy requiring that employees have a doctor's note after being out two consecutive days? If not, I wouldn't ask for a note from her.

Sounds to me like your supervisor is treating her different because she is pregnant (can't do that). Would the sup do this for someone not pregnant?
