weekend pay for committee

Our company has an entertainment committee. Membership is voluntary. We recently had a weekend "fun night" for Easter. We ate and hit pinatas and hid eggs and were silly. However some committee members did work to prepare for this by decorating and cleaning up afterwards. Should they get paid for this?

Since participation is voluntary, I would say "NO" to the payment.

I agree with Linda, if they get paid for it I am sure you would have had a lot more "volunteers" $-)
