"The Osbournes"............. Yeah, I guess we're a lot more like them than we'd care to admit. We do our own thing, but love (of HR) keeps us together.....Will anyone admit to being a lot like Ozzy?
That was Ozzie (James) who posted that! Incidentally, the a.m. news says the young Osborne boy has checked himself in to a rehab program. Why am I not surprised?
They should all check into a rehab center!! Talk about disfunctional families!! But who am I to talk? I have a few weird relatives in a closet that might fit right in with the Osbournes!
I'm a lot like Ozzie... except for the hair, the age, the nationality, the accent, the chicken-head-biting, the drug/alcohol issues, the tattoos... other than that, we're very much alike.
You know, I just read this thread in it's entirety, and as someone who actually HAS had my pants in a wad (don't ask, it's a long story) I should be as entitled as anyone to feel slighted, yet I do not. My fellow inmates are far too valuable to my own professional growth to allow something as mundane as pants get in the way.
I take a couple of days off to be the payroll person and look what you do behind my back! It just goes to prove that HR is more interesting than Payroll. (Are there any payroll sites out there? Do they have witty repartee like we do?)
anaconstr: I would encourage you to start out in the Har-de-Har-Har section. It will get you used to our sense of humor, our give and take, and a few of the inside jokes. (I'm still trying to catch on to them. Confederate flags? How far back is that thread???)
You must be frustrated to work for a company that doesn't support order and my guess is that you are early in your HR career. Chalk this company up to a learning experience, get some HR time behind you, and find another company that will support order. This supervisor/new girl/good employee leaving is just a bump on the road and you will have those in HR. Unfortunately we are unable to make our companies do EVERYTHING correctly (if we did - then we'd be out of jobs) but we can try to make things legal, equal, and good to work for.
I guess I'll have to make my payroll person come back to work so I can catch up with everything! Another joy of HR - wearing many, many hats!
Knowing what a clown typically juggles, I'm staying away from this one. But I AM still puzzled about why 'pants in a wad' would be offensive. I know a guy who once drove an old, raggedy Datsun pickup. It was terribly uncomfortable. I would always tell him, "That ole truck will snatch your shirttail outa your britches". Reckon he was offended by that? I hope not. I was certainly offended by having to ride in that old Datsun though.
Don my brother-in-law is from Kentucky and uses the same colorful language. Are you perhaps from the same area? You have to excuse us uptight Northerners. :-)

PS: How do you get the emoticons in your messages??
Go to "How to use Employer's Forum" do a search for emoticons, and you'll find instructions there.

I'm glad to know you can juggle wearing pants -- I'll leave it at that.
