I-90 Clarification

Until today I thought I had to reverify Resident Alien Cards when they expired (hence the space for such reverification at the bottom of the form). But today I read the article on the Bureau of Citizenship & Immigration Services webpage ([url]www.immigration.gov[/url]) and learned that "employers are not permitted to reverify the employment authorization of aliens who have presented one of these cards to satisfy I-9 requirements..." Yikes! Can anyone set me straight??

If it's permanent resident card that has an expiration date it does not need to be reverified and it shouldn't be reverified. If it's a temporary resident card- that must be reverified after the expiration date. Hope that helps.
