Holistic Employee

I have an employee that pratices "Holistic Divinity" (meaning she does not believe in or will visit doctors) She is very asthmatic and has been missing work more and more often. I think you can see where I'm headed. Workmens Comp, ADA, ect. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Interesting problem. I know I've never dealt with it before, but I can think of a couple of complications right off the bat: One, in order for any sort of workers' comp claim to succeed, she would have to be evaluated by a doctor, something she refuses to do. My only concern there would be if she developed some sort of occupational injury or disease and, by refusing to seek treatment, somehow exposed the company to some liability in the event it became disabling.
