Can anyone tell me what the specifics are, if any, regarding encrypting emails in the new privacy regulations?

    The new privacy regulations cover medical information. Are you getting medical information from doctors through email? If you do, then you would have to safeguard the information. I would not want to give or get medical information though email because of its lack of privacy. Before this goes into effect for your firm, talk to your IT person and find out if this info can be made private. This may not be possible or may be cost prohibitive. Info can be sent by fax fairly rapidly and you can call ahead to make sure the person getting the info gets it without anyone else seeing it. Hope this helps.
