Tracking unpaid leave

Currently, our time tracking system for hourly employees does not allow tracking of unpaid leave (i.e., military leave, jury duty, etc.).

I might be an information-junkie, but I believe we should have a record of unpaid leave granted to each employee.

What is the general consensus on tracking unpaid leave time? Thanks.

In many places, the amount of unpaid leave affects their seniority date which could be very vital if a layoff comes. In addition, FMLA leave might be unpaid which you would want to track. There are many reasons why I would track it.
