Read, write, speak, and understand English

I have noticed an inconsistency in our job descriptions that concerns me and wanted to run it past the group.
Most of our job descriptions include the requirement that the person in the position have the, "Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English." As we do not have any positions that a person could do without this group of skills, is there any reason not to do a global update to our job descriptions?
At the risk of having to move this to the HR-de-har-har section. It is hard to gauge how afraid I am of you all responding to the typos, mis-spellings, and grammatical errors that I'm sure plague this posting. I had even considered plugging some good juicy ones in on purpose just to cover up any accidental ones!x;-)
