I would appreciate some guidence for a situation in one of our Nevada stores. The employee is pregnant and works in the photo lab. Her doctor does not want her to work around the chemicals in the lab. If we place her in another position such as a cashier, can her pay be reduced for that period of time. She probably earns $4-$5 more an hour as a photo lab technician than a cashier. Also, someone will need to fill in for the photo position. Our stores are mandated to keep payroll within very specific $ amounts so to pay her the same wage to be a cashier, will probably mean that the other cashiers will have to have hours reduced and the store will ultimately have less scheduled help.
Thank you for your help.
