Personnel Manual vs. Policy and Procedure Manuals

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between our Personnel Manual/Handbook and our Policy and Procedural Manual? And what I should put where? I've always thought that the little handbook is just basically a sampling, and that all the detailed policies (like the form Policy and Procedural Manual provided at HRHero website) go in the Policy and Procedural Manual. Am I wrong? I'm just confused about how much should go in the Handbook itself. [x:-/]

I think you're correct. The Policy and Procedure Manual has more much more detail and includes the administrative requirements as well, such as what approvals are needed and what forms to use. For example, your handbook simply lists tuition reimbursement as one of the benefits you offer. The Policy and Procedure Manual explains who is eligible, how much is paid, how you apply for it, etc.

Is there a good reason to have both or is it good enough to have a handbook since we are only a company of 8 people?
