Drug Testing

I have just been asked by my plant manager if we can do drug testing with a hair sample. He said that he thought that you could. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks for your help.

  • We used a hair-sample drug testing method when I worked at Harrah's NKC Casino - thought it worked pretty well. It tests a longer time period & can't be altered. (It's amazing to me what people will do to fake a urinalysis test - I've heard that you should never use the microwaves at convenience stores near drug testing centers.......x;-)) Anyway, a technician snips about 3 sections of hair (to equal about the diameter of a pencil eraser) & that's it. I don't remember the company's name, but I'm sure if you called Harrah's HR dept, they'd be willing to help out.
  • I have heard there can be variables by color and type of hair. Also what are you going to do with bald people?
Remember pre-employment drug testing is just a stupidity test. Only the stupid one get caught!

  • I appreciate your 2 cents worth. We didn't have any trouble with false positives. Perms, color treatments, etc. (according to the company we worked with) don't affect the analysis. I agree that most drug tests are stupidity tests - that's why I like this one. You can't dilute or use someone else's hair. For bald people, they use hair from other areas of the body (we won't discuss where.....).
