HR Laws for the United Kingdom

I have to work on HR policies for the United Kingdom. We have a small group (20+)of employees over there. Anys suggestions on where I can get ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • The first thought I have is to ask your senior person in the UK to scout up the name, address and email of the company nearest their office that appears to be a professional organization. And email their HR person with your concern. Perhaps he or she will be able to guide you. Your CFO will hate to hear it, but, also contact your labor attorney about this.
  • The laws in the UK are very different. I suggest you check out their labor departments website, which will give you some example of how different they are I found it once by searching for United Kingdom and Redundency payments on the Web). Even though attorneys in the UK are a bit costly, it might be worth your company's while to hire a local expert.
