No future re-application for employment

Is there any law or regulation prohibiting the parties to a settlement agreement arising from a discharge from employment from agreeing that the discharged employee shall never again re-apply for employment with the employer? Does anyone have a sample policy?

AML: I think it would be safer not to state such an intention with the employee. I would rather see you indicate not eligible for rehire on your paperwork and find another way (and there are many) not to rehire her. If you have a policy of no-rehire or no-rehire for certain infractions, it'll hold up.
