Mandatory Vacation

We are a manufacturing company, can our company mandate when employees must take vacation? For example, the week of July 4th the company will be shut down. Management is discussing requiring production employees to take accrued vacation. Office staff will be working unless they elect to take vacation. Our company has sites in Indiana, Tennessee and Texas that would be affected. Does anyone know of laws which prohibit management from mandating that employees use accrued vacation time?
