Polygraph Examinations

We currently employ temporary employment personnel. As a public law enforcement agency (Kansas), can we polygraph these temporary employees? Unless I'm missing the boat, I'm not finding any law that provides clear guidelines. Can you provide some specific information and/or law to clarify?

    I'm not sure whether law enforcement is allowed to test all employees or just some. Have you tried searching this website for the word "polygraph"? (See the bottom of the blue bar at the left.)

    If you're not sure of the answer, it's probably worth talking to a lawyer in your state. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you ... oops, wrong law. Here are the lawyers who write Kansas Employment Law Letter:
