Please help in Mississippi

I'm in Tennessee; however, I have been asked to find out about age discrimination in Mississippi. Federal law states that it applies to employers with 20 or more employees, and Tennessee says 8 or more. Can someone tell me what the Mississippi law is on this? Thanks for your help!

  • MS has no additional law covering private employers. The federal Act applies to private employers with 20 or more ee's. State law prohibits public employers from engaging in employment discrimination on the basis of age, but doesn't specify any age limit (MS Code Sec. 25-9-103). We are one of the few, if not the only state in the nation, without a state department of labor and the multitude of laws and regulations that allow those departments to justify their existence.
