Caring for uniforms

We have been told by some employees that our requirement that they clean their uniforms at home is illegal. They insist that they should be paid for their time. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    Some states have laws that require the employer to pay for the care of uniforms. So you may need to check state law on this.

    If your state has no regulation, my perspective is: if the care is normal washing like with other clothes, you should be able to require your employees to show up neat and clean. But if the care entails some special care or extra care, they may have a valid point.
