  • Nick,

Most companies are moving away from providing employees with company cars for two reasons. First, what does the company do with the car when the employee departs the company? The employee is usually not in a position to purchase the car or usually doesn't want to. Second, employees don't always take as good care of a company vehicle as they do their own. Companies are rather going to providing a car allowance for the employee to purchase a vehicle. Some will stipulate some guidelines for the use of the car allowaance. For example, the employee receiving a car allowance must maintain a vehicle that is no older than seven years, four door, etc.

  • Thanks. I discussed your position at length with our president; however, he still plans on providing company vehicles.
