Attendance Policies

Can anyone suggest websites I might be able to look at regarding attendance policies? We are in the process of revising our handbook and may want to consider making some changes. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Food for thought: Don't have a written attendance policy thereby allowing more flexibility in such cases. Example: Would you want to treat a model 20-year employee who suddenly develops attendance problems in a similar fashion as an employee with similar problems who has been with you only a year?

The lack of a written policy doesn't mean you throw reasonableness out the window. Just be careful and make sure the decisions that are made are reasonable and business-related.

If you don't want problems in court or in administrative hearings (unemployment, EEO, etc.) then you'd better treat them in the same fashion. It's an expensive lesson to learn, believe me.
