State of Georgia Employment Legislation

I am looking for a handbook that is written in layman terms that would describe the Employment Legislation in place for the State of Georgia. Does such a handbook exist and, if so, how can I obtain a copy?

  • HR Quick List is my favorite employment law handbook. (It better be, since I co-wrote it x:D ) Although it doesn't include laws from each state, it identifies areas of the law that are different from state to state. You can find samples of HR Quick List at
    http://www.hrhero.com/hrquicklist.shtml

For specific information about Georgia's state laws, try Georgia Employment Law Letter, a monthly newsletter that does a great job of focusing on Georgia law. (No, I don't write it, but I still like it.) You can find info and get a free sample at

If you want in-depth resources about Georgia law, you should become a member of the Georgia Employment Law Center. That will give you the monthly newsletter plus access to tons of information about Georgia law in the members-only area of www.HRhero.com

Once it is opened, use Adobe Reader's file and save as to keep a copy on your computer for quick reference. This handbook is in what we hope to be an "easy to read" format, hope this helps,

  • Is the link you provided correct? It doesn't seem to work for me. I'd be interested in looking at the Employers Handbook!

  • I copied the url, however, if it doesn't work for you, go to the Georgia Department of Labor home page at www.dol.state.ga.us, and click on the Unemployment Insurance Link. Scroll to the bottom of the form and you will see the link to the pdf format. Incidentally, just below that link is a link to the official forms (in pdf format) that we currently have available for download. We are currently developing forms for online completion and email.
