Severance - Tennessee

over the period of the last year we have closed a very small (25 employees) facility in Tennessee. This came as no surprise to any of the employees, no ill will. The issue that has arisen is that the final lay offs of 13 people were done under new corporate owners with a new (less generous) severance policy.

An employee has stated that there is statute in Tennesse that would require all severance payments made to employees within a 12 month period to be based on the same rules. Obviously, this individual is looking for the more generous policy but in the interest of 1)protecting the company and 2)doing what is right I would like to know if such a statute exists. I have been unable to find anything.
