Dang, dang, dang!!! I missed you guys in Atlanta. I overslept and missed the breakfast. Since I overslept, I also had to sit at the front of the room, so everyone knew I was late...that's what I get. I really enjoyed the conference and wish I wo…

I'll be at the Atlanta conference. I'm looking forward to seeing the southern part of the US. Let me know the "must see" attractions. Will see if I can find you guys at breakfast.

Thanks to everyone...especially Leslie. My great grandmother used to stretch her dough on her round kitchen table. It sounds like your family recipe would be very similar to mine. Please share if you can! Oh, me and my used to make it, but to ge…

I can't believe that Todd won either!! I was rooting for Amanda, since she's a Montana girl. I also thought that she did a good job of not ticking too many people off. I think her "puppy eyed" look did her in, as she seemed insincere.

I agree that he was very knowledgeable. Fortunately there are a number of very knowledgeable people on the forum.

Actually, I thought he could be rather grandiose and patronizing at times.

It's hot here. It's in the 90s and wild fires are plentiful. It's been an early fire season for us and it's been a tough one. Hopefully, it will rain soon. I'm looking forward to camping in the mountains this weekend...hopefully it will be coole…

Oh!! Maybe I'll visit this forum more often lol!

Para, at one point, I recall Kerry saying that the govt. would pay full tuition at a state school for all soldiers when they were honorably discharged. Maybe he's planning on nabbing young, poor college students.

Don, I can imagine mechanically separated stuff in sausage, but chicken patties and fish stix? You're pulling my leg... aren't you?
-
This is too gross!! I have always been a label reader and just assumed that mechanically separated chicken was icky, but man I had no idea!Is anyone going to continue to eat food products with mechanically separated chicken??

SMace ... ditto, ditto, ditto!!
-
Well, Don, I just wanted you to know that I never expected you to live up to my "personal expectations". Geez, talk about uptight!! I hope that you will not take things so personally in the future Don.

As many others have said, I don't post often although I read a lot. I have learned so much from everyone and enjoy the banter. I do agree with Paul, however, regarding some of Don's posts. He's not very respectful and in fact seems very arrogant …

I agree with everyone that you made the right decision. I've chosen to not move up because I've earned my stripes here and have the flexibility that's necessary as a working mom. My husband almost took a promotion (in town) but decided not to beca…

Thanks for responding. I also have concerns regarding the discrimination factor. Having the application and releases on the website to download is a good idea. That way, you do have a signed release and application. I'm still on the fence with r…

Don, as much as I'd like to concur with your third option, I believe the first or second option are most feasible.

Do you know where I can find that type of information?

Have you considered sending her to a Dr. of your choice at your cost? I work in mental health too and we have staff overnight in our group homes. Does this ee stay awake or sleep? I have found our very own medical staff to be very helpful to me i…

There are some other questions Melville. We have a similar situation. I left the ee on the health insurance and told him that he needed to send in his share of the premium. Have you been in touch with WC? Do they have any idea how long he may be…

Scorpio, one thing you might do is meet with the rep, find out what info she wants and to buy yourself time, tell her that you'll pull the information together and route it to her within the next few days.

I realize that I've sounded pretty heartless...Typically, I advocate strongly for return to work and light duty programs, but in this case, I have too much history with this ee, especially in the area of worker comp claims. This guy falls down ever…

His job is very active. It was funny, when he came to work without a neckbrace one of his co-workers asked him if he shouldn't be wearing one. The very next day, he showed up with one on. Ironically, he's a nurse! Thanks for the advice.

LAST EDITED ON 03-23-04 AT 04:48PM (CST)[br][br]Sonny, he was released, but only to work half-time. As I said, all he did was complain about his pain. I contacted our attorney and he recommended that we keep h…

Rockie, I recently had a similar situation. Has the ee signed a release for the Dr. to talk to you? Also, I wrote the Drs.' myself, enclosed a copy of the job description and asked the Drs. to write just a short note stating that ee was released t…

Unfortunately we are looking at layoffs too. Typically, it depends on the position as to how we handle it. Since I work in mental health a lot of our employees are clinical staff. We give a 30 day severance for a RIF and as the clinicians to ensu…

You are probably right Sonny...oops!

Is there only one Dr. making referrals? I agree with the poster who questioned the Dr.'s level of involvement and decision making authority. I also agree with Nae regarding the attorney.
-
All of this is really good advice. We have an ee who will be going out on maternity leave and is not covered by FMLA. I'll keep this in mind, as we too are going through a budget crunch.

Interesting dilemma! I thought Sonny had some good advice. Another approach that you may try is talking to her about appropriate professional boundaries. Since I work in mental health, establishing and maintaining professional boundaries is essen…
