We just re-hired an employee whose last day was December 31, 2010. She is to begin working again next week. I just wondered what, if any, new employee documents need to be completed in this type of situation and how you would handle this situation???

  • With re-hires who terminated that recently, I normally just reactivate their old file. The only things I would have them fill out would be a current W-4, the paperwork for direct deposit of their paychecks, and we have one form where they acknowledge that they understand how much they are being paid and when paydays are so I have them sign that one also. Otherwise, if not that much time has passed between termination and re-hire, most of the things I'd have in their old file should still be current.
