Hi Chari - I usually take a similar position, however, in this instance it sounds as though mgmt already acted on the tip & confronted ee with the information & ee confirmed the conviction. Now that the ee confirmed - anonymous call or not …

? Parabeagle - WAC 162-12-140 found on the HRC site states 10 years - is there another WAC that I should be aware of?

Yep, you're in a pickle. I'm honestly never afraid to admit to a mistake, so my advice would be to remove the notice of intent from his file & let him know you guys over reacted with a one-way decision when a compromise should have been sought …

HRH - Welcome to the forum! x:-) Please do a search on this site and you will see how often we have addressed your specific question.

Whew! I thought I was the only one, I don't get it either.

Like Ray, we don't respond to every applicant, but we do get some applicants that make it a habit of calling every day, several times a day or every two days inquiring/demanding to know where their application stands and how soon an interview can be…

I'm so sorry MrCreosote, - I absolutely hate 360-degree (just my opinion - I'm sure many like 'em.) programs. That being said, since your company has it, there shouldn't be anything in the survey that's "negative" - as "negative" comments should be…

I met with an employment attorney (just for education) awhile back and he told me something that has stuck with me, "I love it when HR folks use common sense, it means more money for the attorney's." You need to do your research on age discriminati…

Each state is different. A chiropractor's analysis in Washington state, especially in a worker comp. situation, carries the same weight as a licensed MD.

We accept resumes - from the mail only, but anyone that comes in to drop one off must fill out an application as well. Also, anyone that goes forward for an interview, must complete an application (mainly so we have a sig. on the disclaimers).

Good question - I never have, but if you do - will you come back to the forum & let us know if it was worth it or not? I've thought about listening to a couple of the audio conferences offered, but always held back. x:-)

Okay - I'm a brat. I agree with others about term'ing the ee & pursuing legal action, but here's where the brat comes out...Why would you put an ee on a written warning for viewing porn at work - doesn't your policies allow termination under th…

Hi Newcomer First, welcome to the forum - you're smart in that you've already gotten a subscription to the Law Letter for your state - they are invaluable - plus you have access to this site - so you're off to a great start. I tried to look up you…

x:-) What do I think? I'm glad I'm me today instead of you x;-) It sounds like even prior to the knowledge about the temp worker, she was marginally & you already were formulating a plan to term her temp. position - so, I would follow through…

Hi MEssig You're boss may not be as off as he sounds. HR and the profession itself has many different variations/policies/beliefs/practices/specialities, etc. For instance, it's kind of like saying, "In my experience, all baseball players wear ha…

Don & Leslie - thank you very much xhugs I was getting confused with the thread and wondered if it was a requirement, a suggestion, a good idea or other. Thanks for clearing it up!

We have an employee that's related to Jimi Hendrix - trust me, we really do. I didn't care for all of his music, but my favorite song of ALL POSSIBLE TIME is Little Wing - it gives me chills. x:-)

If it wasn't asked for on the application, how did the employer in the article know the age? My application doesn't ask for age, graduation dates, military service dates, etc. - so how would an employer with a similar type of application even kno…

But, barring 'statutory violations' - it's an excellent doctrine! x;-)

I hear you, if you doubt yourself then don't do it. Just never forget the power of At Will when dealing with potential employee terminations - sometimes we make it all more difficult on ourselves than necessary.

Hi FHR - how goes the battle? I thought of you originally when I saw this post - maybe you could move to CA and show these guys & gals what you've got x:-)

Hi MEssig I worked in a similar setting in my past & I agree with others, the prognosis is slim. In an effort to turn a negative into a positive - I would counter the suggestion that corporate ee's work downstairs cleaning to an overall discus…

Knew that Cthr - I was just responding to the post as I was reading it. As to rickam - I did read all of your posts & still feel exactly the same. Glad you're participating in the process though - welcome to the forum. x:-)
