Agree with the other posters. What is that saying about opportunity? If you are like most of us, you will spend time in several companies during your career. Not all of them will be as good as this one sounds.

Congrats MWild, it looks all the voters in Washington State heard about you being down in the dumps and took the action needed to cheer you up. The rest of us just wanted to help you hang in there until the right thing was done.

Yes, one of the many very sad facts about our State. We also have some very low wages in the casino industry and get a lot of people in the community with issues related to the under educated and low income profiles. That means we HR folks need to…

I heartily recommend Nevada. We do have starbucks, birkenstock, etc. Great outdoor and indoor recreation. No personal income tax (so far), and a 'rebel without a cause' attitude.

We might have to amend our offensive bodily odors policy. It might also cut down on whining in my office. Closed door sessions would become a thing of the past. This is worth considering.

Actually, I think it is more specific than English, it is American. Portion control is so important. I heard a report this weekend that 25% (I think) of our children are obese. Not just overweight and that most of them become obese adults. We te…

I do most of the cooking at our house. My wife is pursueing her PHD while working full time. An amazing woman, if I had her dedication and drive ...? Since I started the low-carb nutrition approach, she has put up with (mostly quietly) the lack o…

I see, so the only ones over 80 were the HR staff? x}>

As tough as this stuff is, it has to happen on occasion. It is supposed to make the organization healthier. This lay-off should make the remaining jobs more secure. Remember every silver lining surrounds a dark cloud. Or is it the other way arou…

Does that mean all those money faxes I sent were some sort of scam? I hope those individuals (and you all know who you are) will immediately fax back those benjamens.

Nice spin on the story. I heard it with dogs. The first three dogs were female and the government workers dog was male. Instead of attacking the others, he 'had his way' with them. Is that where the saying 'men are dogs' comes from?

Some of these questions still happen even when you are married. I hate the question : "Notice anything different?" I always panic. I am well known for not noticing new pictures, dust collectors, etc. that my wife has spent considerable time with …

Not a Cohen as far as my amnesiac-like memory can tell, but the first three words in my bible are 'Get the money.' And many of my friends tell my I am definitely meshugina (sp?).

Leslie, Thank you for your kind offer. Unfortunately, I have already given the shirt to my payroll clerk - She is the real hero around here anyway - makes sure we all get paid.

Ok guys, just notice how the women are flocking around the guy that works with children and families. We know how to get the women. For some reason though, they just want me to babysit. I haven't figured out how to get to the backrubs yet.

Hi Safety, The profile is now enabled. Just as an aside, I was born and raised in a small town close to GC. If you blinked when driving through, you would miss it. Cimarron is the place, home of the Bluejays. Great place to grow up.

I am going for the record. If you post these late enough in the day, the web editors are all busy - maybe they have lives outside of the forum, unlike most of the rest of us.

Mjindra's red x lines were way more symetrical and generally better balanced, plus the red suggested the strawberry blond that followed.

Hmmm - all I am getting is the dreaded red box. Looks like I will need some help from the web editor. Believe me the red box is probably a better picture.

Sounds like you made some great memories. Welcome back.

After too many years of three peice suits and zany ties, I sure don't miss those rigid dress codes. Business casual is the how we do it here and blue jeans are ok on days when we are buried in our offices with no outside contact. I know this sort …

Leslie and HRQ - I am heading your direction in the morning to visit my Dad in Sun City for his 80th birthday. He has been complaining about the heat also. Bringing the golf clubs so we can get out in it for a while. Hate to leave Northern Neva…

Staff size = 56, Women on staff = 52 Men on staff = 4 With this ratio, I have a great time demonstrating the 'inappropriate' behavior, and strangely enough, the volunteers are eager to participate in the demonstrations. Makes one wonder how illeg…

I got my 'complimentary' AARP card a couple of years ago, I did not feel at all complimented and I refuse to use it for discounts even though I like to spend both sides of a nickel!

We are having some contests during our staff meeting (the day before Halloween). 1. Bring in your free-hand carved pumpkin (three prizes), 2. Guess the number of coffee beans in the jar (keep the jar and beans), 3. A mummy wrap toilet paper con…

As Casey Stengle may have said, "I would have a great vocabulary if it did not involve the use of words."

Sounds like a ritual is developing just in time for halloween. The passing of the pitchfork. Might be a good setting for some more forum picutes.

Sounds like a tall drink of water to me. x;-)

I worked for a real estate developer gentleman that was 5 foot nothing. When he got angry with the land development supervisor, who was 5' 11", the owner would open the bottom drawers of his desk, stand in them, so he could yell down at the supervi…

I was actually glad to see the new monthly AARP magazine cover saying that 60 is the new 30. What a spin, I am young again with a few years to go before I hit the magic 30. :DD
