Double Yikes!

This issue relates to non-exempt employees. I can make the argument that time spent at the airport (check-in, waiting for the flight, etc.) should be compensable, although the DOL makes no mention of airport waiting time. Time driving to/from the a…

Hi, Welcome to the Forum! Here are a couple of links to pages on HRLaws that confirm your assessment of the FLSA regarding travel time. http://www.hrlaws.com/node/1178500 http://www.hrlaws.com/topic/travel-time Also, h…

I agree with Nae. Hiring a temporary worker solves your problem. There are many good temporary help agencies with qualified people who are eager to get their foot in the door. The high rate of unemployment at this time increases your chance of findi…

You could start with an equipment sign-out sheet that lists the equipment along with its dollar value. Include a disclaimer that explains that all equipment must be returned in good working order, etc. upon separation from the organization and that …

Employees should follow customary call-in procedures for any absence, including FMLA approved. Sharon

To pstringer: Did you have any luck getting anything you could use from your local police department? If not, please let me know. Sharon

Makes perfect sense to me!

I guess she could have been more politically correct and said, "There was just no future there." Sharon

I think it depends on the reason for the letter. If it's a follow up to an in-person termination to advise the former employee of COBRA rights, etc. then I probably wouldn't restate the reason for termination. If it's a letter advising the employee …

I'm not familiar with such a policy but think a good source wold be your local police or sheriff's department. They both have employees that carry weapons as a necessary part of their job and should have policies in place regrading use of force, etc…

It has "useless meeting." That could cover it. Sharon

I clicked play ... and I liked it. Way to go, Frank! Sharon

They may not be worse than those you mentioned, but numbers 5 and 8 shown on the link were particularly disturbing. Number 3 is in a class all by himself. Sharon

Speaking of vampires, anyone remember the movie, Dracula, with Frank Langella. I think it came out back in the 70's. It was excellent. Langella also played Skeletor in Masters of the Universe, another good, campy movie. Sharon
Sharon, I LOVE Neil Gaiman (and you haven't read "weird" until you've read some of his stuff) and Terry Pratchett is absolutely my favorite author in the world. I think I own every one of each of their books, and I also love the …

Frank, I would never have guessed you are a Dark Shadows fan. Not in a million years. I am stunned. Sharon PS: Who is your favorite character? ::alien::

I just really haven't been able to get into the Twilight story. I saw the first movie and my daughter has read all the books, seen the first two movies and likes them a lot. I read a lot of fiction and am not opposed to reading about the…

Sawynia, I've had some experience with this and would be happy to help you but need to ask you some questions. For example: Is the comp model for hourly or salaried employees? (Are the employees exempt or nonexempt?) Will the model be for all …

I believe you just proved her point.

Interesting. The articles I've read say that too much rain causes some of them.

I do believe that Joannie is right about that Paul.

I was a hippy, much to my (army helicopter pilot) brother's chagrin. Being a hippy was great fun! No more hose and skirts/dresses, or high heels. Bluejeans and sandals were the order of the day.
Googling yourself? Snicker...
Let's see. The last time I Googled myself I found that there are a lot of folks with the same name out there. Some famous, sort of, but mostly not. When I was in high scho…

Well, then I guess I should let you have the last word. ; )

And, here I thought I was the thread killer. Go figure!

Much to my chagrin those pesky unanswered questions are bugging me. So, I'm happy to report that the boxed set (all 6 seasons) of Lost is available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Sounds like a plan for a few "lost" weekends next winter. Sha…

Lost had more red herrings than half all the mystery novels ever written all put together. Just thinking about them makes my head hurt. So, I don't. I just enjoyed the journey and leave the logic to all the folks who have to have definitive a…
