I know I was in high school when it was released, so it had to be early-mid 70s.

I believe Dylan was the first, but I think Kris Kristofferson also did a cover of it.

Smart-aleck! x:-)

First of all, perhaps I didn't make myself clear. As I said, I can intellectually appreciate the argument, it's just that emotionally it irritates me no end. I should point out that it's not as if everyone forks over a few hundred dollars per year…

"The kids that you don't want to pay to educate will grow up to run...the government that will run our lives..." Hmmmm.... was Dubya a product of the public school system (before Yale, of course)? x;-) Your point is well taken, Whirlwind. And th…

Reading about the horrible mess our schools are in, unfortunately, makes me think about the county I live in which began levying an income tax on every resident starting last year. The proceeds are supposed to go to the county school system. Sou…

Yes, but you're forgetting, Leslie - George W. Bush was an MIA -- Alabama Air Guard couldn't find him for the longest time. x;-)

It's my money, why >shouldn't I be able to have a say in how it is >managed for my retirement. I mean the gov't >figuratively holds a gun to my head taking my >money from me. The least they can do is let me >have a say in what ha…

No wonder I was taking such a beating. You weren't around to help, Whatever. I expressed righteous indignation over the "shove it" vs. "f-word off" comments a few posts up.

What's the old journalism expression, James? "If it bleeds, it leads?" Journalism is a noble profession, and I have respect for (most) of them. And it could be worse - you could have been a lawyer. x;-) But oh, how we miss Walter Cronkite!

I actually blame the media more than I do the parties themselves. If the media didn't glom onto petty issues such as these, they might actually have to report something significant. Okay any media types out there. Bring it on!

I stand corrected. Thank you. Doesn't diminish the fact that the man who is a heartbeat away from the presidency obviously cannot control his emotions enough to act in a dignified manner.

"And still has not acknowledged her "mistake". Yet, she and her friends call Bush a liar. Interesting." Hey, Ray. Democrats haven't cornered the market on stupidity, you know. There's room for Republicans, potential first ladies, children of pres…

This is disturbing on so many levels. :-S

Nope. But if you want to borrow it, I can lend you my lime green leisure suit.

>1974: bell bottoms >2004: big bottoms Speak for yourself, Raymond... x;-) I still haven't graduated to the jeans with a "skoch more room in the seat." x;-)

While any change in policy re illegal immigrants must be initiated from the top down, the only time we will achieve any real change is when American citizens who are unemployed or underemployed step up to the plate and agree to do the jobs that are …

Does he offer to throw in a set of Ginsu Steak Knives if your act NOW??!

Many weird experiences in my career, but never anything quite that bizarre. Are you sure your friend isn't stuck in a "Groundhog Day" time warp?

Was there any report as to what the reporter had been smoking when he wrote this piece?

Geez, HRQ. Does your mere presence have that same dampening effect at parties, as well? x;-)

Geez, now that would be one Percy Milquetoast ticket! Lieberman droning on during the inaugural address while the Chief Justice (and the listening public) struggles to stay awake... McCain playing cats cradle with that length of string Lieberman g…

It's always the case --those not running give the best speeches. And I fully expect Clinton will somehow hijack the convention, just as he did the inauguration (remember the media kept ignoring Bush and focusing on Clinton's departure?) I actually…

You're right, Whirlwind. I hereby apologize for any pigment I offended, either Latex or enamel. x;-)

I may watch the dems for entertainment value - I'm guessing the republican convention will be about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I was really surprised when ABC News named the brothers who put this parody together as ABC News' Person of the Week last Friday. Very much deserved. Regarding the lawyers - they should probably get a humor implant.

As a Democrat, first-generation American whose parents hail from Canada, and Catholic to boot, I'm not exactly sure where to start... x;-)
