  • You will find all sorts of benefit costs structrues as it is up to each company and what they can affort to do. We pay 100% of ee premium cost and 50% of dependent premium cost. We set our deductibles up on a three tier system based on annual inc…
  • We do not hesitate to spend a few dollars when customers are involved. However, when it is only an ee(s) traveling, we do not pay for any of the extras, unless they are out for a prolonged period of time as in at least a week or more.
  • We require all ee's to be paid via direct deposit. All we have is a sentence or two in the payroll section in the employee handbook stating the same. That is as close to a policy that we have.
  • No personal experience. However when my better half frist went to work at a local college they had a group/pool of 4 to 6 other private colleges in an attempt to lower their health care cost. This did not work for them due to a couple of the other…
  • If the glasses truly are half price at another vendor, it might be worth a call to them to check out their prices and quality.
  • We allow sick leave to accmulate up to 30 days (240 hours) and it can be carried on as long as they are employed. We do not allow vacation days to be carried over.
  • If you should do this, check your current policy as to how and when they could be added to your plan. They don't want the coverage when it isnn't needed, but if something comes up... now they need coverage and now they will want in the plan. This …
  • Check your plan document or contact the provider for your plan. You are correct you cannot force the ee to repay the company for the funds that they received for their health costs that were over and above the amount they contributed. They can sig…
  • We recently found out that our company health insurance would not pay for an ee's auto accident,in which he broke his back, because his blood alcohol content was above (just barely) the legal limit. Talk about a wake up call for many. Basically th…
  • Same here. Our policy is very near the same with similar exclusions for hazardous hobbies/activities. Years ago (20+) when I did a little pleasure flying (before kids) I had to get a special policy to cover me while I was flying the plane. Our poli…
  • We have a policy very similar to yours. If an ee has an ill family member, they are going to stay home and take care of them, as they should.
  • Ouch, a recent exception to the rule... We have basically the same program just a few miles east of you here in Missouri. We have a seperate vacation and sick time program for our ee's. We do pay out unused vacation at termination but we have NEV…
  • I am not aware of any "prohibitions" for doing this. We have a self insured health care program and we have had a three tiered deductible program for several years now. The tiers are set at $250, $750, and $1200 and are based on the income of the …
  • Same here. We provide no special beneifts for adoptions. We treat an adoption that same as a birth. However, the ee's are really good about getting together with baby showers, etc....

  • Contact your County Health Dept. to see what they can do to help, such as providing someone to take blood pressure etc. of those attending and/or to speak about the beneifts of good health habits,(i.e. proper dite and exercise). We also work with a…
  • We are a privately owned company with approx. 100 ee' covered by STD/LTD. It is my understanding from our STD/LTD Insurance provider that the ee cannot "double dip." They can either receive eligible sick time, vacation time, etc. from the company …
  • WE are not self funded but our TPA for STD and LTD does not allow "double dipping." It would have to be one or the other.
  • On the other hand, if they have divorced and he is not telling you, and if the former spouse or should have a claim it could get ugly (read in mostly extra paperwork) trying to settle the claim when they discover that they were not married at the ti…
  • We have a partially self insured plan. Last year we did not pass along any increase in premium costs. This year we are passing along a 5% increase. We pay 100% of ee cost and 50% of dependent cost. The ee is reponsible for 50% of dependent cost.
  • We have also taken this approach in the past. When we changed from Putnam to American Funds and also when we decide to drop a fund or two and add others. We simply transfer all the funds from one plan to the most similar fund in the other company. …
  • We are not extending our FSA plan. This is partially based on the recommendation from the outside firm that we use for our plan; but mostly based upon the fact that we have never had any problems with our ee's turning in their receipts in a timely m…
  • Same here. We decided against it as well. One point to consider is that (of course) those that would not take the coverage are the ee's that are normally the most healthy and therefore would be less likely to benefit from being in the plan. This …
  • Mayber we have been doing this all wrong, but I don't believe we have ever donated money to the family. We send flowers from the company and various depts. We do accept donations from ee's but this money is used to purchase food for the family as w…
  • Our program states: There are additional filing requirements for plans allowing OTC under the medical FSA: To claim vitamins, herbs or nutritional supplements, you must have a written diagnosis of the medical condition and "prescription" of all s…
  • Same thoughts here. Check you SPD for specifics. We allow both F-T and P-T ee's in our 401(k) Plan, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements of our plan: 1) work one 12 month eligibility period, 2) work at least 1,000 hours in a 12 month p…

  • We would not put them back on the vacation ladder, but we have a vacation policy that states they must have one continuous year of employement to be eligible for vacation. If this is the first time it has occured you could be setting your program g…
  • We do not provide (as in pay 100%) of any dependent care benefit. However, we do pay 50% of the dependent premiums for Health and Dental coverage if the employe elects to carry their dependents on our policies. We too provide a pretax flexible sp…
  • Yep, same here. If he is "going through a divorce", could he be attempting to keep his soon to be ex from getting her fair share? Good luck, Dutch2

  • We were with Express Scripts for a couple of years; 03 and 04. Actually we were with Managed Pharmacy Benefits in 2000, 01 and 02 and they were bought out by Express Scripts. We left them at the end of 02 due to poor response time and went with Pr…
  • We match the ee's contribution up to 3%. We also provide a 3% profit sharing contribution to every eligible employee. Even if they do not contribute any of their own money to the plan they will receive a 3% profit sharing from the company.
