Same here. If payday is a holiday, we pay the day before. Dutch2

Even if the ee is not "credit worthly" of a checking account, they may still be able to open a savings account at a local bank or other such institution. The Direct deposit can go to a savings account same as a checking account. The ee then must m…

We pay OT for productive time only. Any other "paid time" such as sick, vacation, etc. that may be paid during the work week do not count as productive time and therefore are not included in the count towards the 40 hours.

I have to agree. If the company requires this action/time then it should be considered time on the clock and counted as their other working hours and therefore towards overtime. Good luck, Dutch2

Yep. "Neither bird not plan, nor even frog, just little ole me... UnderDog." "There is one thing you should learn; when there is no where else to turn.... Caaaall for Super Chicken!" Speaking of The Hunter, wasn't he a good guy on one of the Und…

About the same here. We did away with the "beeper" and just use the cell phones that all of our Management Team already has. There is no additional pay for exempt employees. To quote Super Chicken: "Besides you knew the job was dangerious when th…

A few years back we changed a few positions from exempt to non-exempt and we did the same as the last post. Divided their annual salary by 2080 and came up an hourly rate for them. It was amazing how a couple that were seldom working 40 hours a we…

We too retro the effective date, if necessary, to the start of the pay period that was/is closest to their actual date of hire. HR sends out reminders to each Supervisor about upcoming evaluations and we counsel Supervisors if they do not complete …

I have to agree with the last post... Were they "really" in a supervisor position or was this just away for them to "work long and hard in season" and not have to pay them overtime? If this is not in question, then I agree with the others. It is …

Our policy covers: spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren. Step children, step parents and step brothers and sisters are also covered as are mother in- law and father in-law.

Temporary highjack.. Hey Frank : how are those bare - hariy legs holding up in this wonderful MO weather? I hear just south of you got hit pretty hard with an ice storm. Sections of I-55 are closed due to power lines down across the road. Hop…

First - what are you referring to as service fees? A fee to have a checking account or fees charged to the owner of the account for INSF ect? If a fee for INSF etc. we charge employees the same as we do non-employees. Just to have a checking acco…

Before we went to a self insurance plan our former full coverage provider had it as part of our contract that all eligible employees must participate in the plan. I am sure this was simply a way for them to be paid the most they could be in monthly…

Nae: I believe that is exactly the report he was referring to. I think this discussion may also include IRA accounts so moving the money to an IRA would probably not be a solution if any of this ever comes about. As far as the talk about a "natio…

We are lower than the IRS amount. When the price of gas was going so high we raised it to .42 per mile.

Prior to changing to self insured a few years back, our former insurance provider required all eligible employees to enroll in the plan. This is how our policy contract was written with them. We too paid 100% of employee cost.

FHRB: I agree with you, that option sounds like discrimination to me too. Apparently, based on the responses received this option may simply be up to each employer. I hate to say this, but I can't believe the "government" is not involved in this…

As Dazed mentioned... so many what if's to consider. At frist reading, my concern would be if the longer term ee is continuing to work from home while off; she should be compensated for all time worked. Our STD policy does not allow us to double d…

In my former life.... benefits were effective on the date of hire for exempt ee's. While non-exempts had to wait 90 days. Current policy here is benefits are effective at the first of the month after their date of hire. This is the same for all …

We offer the AFLAC bunch, additional life insurance for ee and their dependents, additional ADA insurance, Flexible Spending for Health and Dependent Care and probably a few more. These have presented no problems and take very little time. It is j…

Also consider if the ee's will be using the hookup for personal use as well. If they are, then the er should not be responsible to pay for the full cost.

Good to see another poster from MO... welcome to the forum!!! We have been with AFLAC for several years now. We offer: cancer protection, accident expense, Short Term Disability, Personal Sickness and Intensive Care coverages. To my knowledge we…

That is the same way our policy is written. We found out after the fact as well. Had an employee involved in an auto accident and our insurance would not pay becasue his blood alcohol was high enough for him to be considered under the influence. …

Thank you all muchly for your comments and recommendations. Over the last two week pay period the hours worked are back up where they need to be. Hopefully this excerise was for naught, we will continue to monitor. The ee in question was a Superv…

May be best to look at industry specific in your regional area. We are a financial institution and accrue 1 day sick leave (8 hours) for every month - 12 days a year with a maximum of 30 days. We do not require a waiting period or a note from the…

We did this very switch in 2000 and have not looked back. It is so great not to have to bid our your plan every year. Due to concern and the unknown we first set out with a $10k specific deducitble, we are at $30k now and considering going higher …

Don't know if this will work for you, but we have used it for several years. Good luck... In order to receive Holiday Pay, you must be scheduled to work that day. Example: if July 4th falls on a Wednesday and that is your regularly scheduled day o…
