There is a company called Avert that can help you. There phone number is 800-367-5933. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

We also pay for pre-employment physicals but are working on re-cooping some money if the new hire does not stay for 30 days. Although it is a requirement for most of our employees to have a valid CDL the employee pays for his or her DOT physical to…

I spoke with the employee's Dr. today. I told the Dr. about the medical history of the employee and he was a little surprised at him blacking out. The employee is actually going to see the Dr. tomorrow. I told the Dr. that the employee will not b…

Thank you Margaret for your advise. The employee was released from the hospital today. The employees Dr. determined that he did not have a heart attack. However, we told the employee we still want a release from his Dr. and for his Dr. to call me…

The employee uses his own Dr. He is still in the hospital. I have told him that he will not be able to return to work without medical clearance. However, if his Dr. gives him clearance I will let the employee know he will be going to a Dr. of the c…

Thank you Parabeagle for your response. I will get a second or third opinion. I am very worried also about any type of accident in a company truck or Personal vheicle. I have never experienced this type of behaviour before. Most people would stay…

Congrats!!! I hope it works out for you. x:-)

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ADVISE. I THINK WHAT I AM GOING TO DO IS WRITE HIM UP AND LET HIM KNOW THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS HE WILL BE TERMINATED. IF I FIRE HIM NOW HE WILL TAKE US TO COURT. HE'S THAT TYPE OF PERSON. I JUST WISH HIS SUPERVISOR WOULD W…

I just went through the same thing. I would post it to be on the safe side.

This was not work related. It was a teenager behind the wheel talking on the cell phone. Why is the car rental business being sued? I agree with hands free kits. All of our Sales Reps , VP, President, Head Mechanic, and Myself have hands free k…

SDDCHR I have not really found out why but I find it absolutely ridiculous. If there are any lawyers out there could you answer the question.
-
I would talk / write-up the sales rep and let him/her know the next incident he/she would be terminated if he/she is at fault. Obviously this sales rep is not paying attention, both accidents were preventable. Also, I would write a policy that perta…

How did this sales rep cause the accidents? I need a little more detail to determine what type of action I would take.

I would send the ee in for a physical. I am sure the ee has to have a physical every year because of his situation. As you know a person must have a Federal Medical Card along with his/her CDL.
-
I agree with Don and LindaS. I think that ee should count his/her lucky stars. The ee does not have a point. The point is that he/she did benefit from being off with pay. Some times you just can't win.
-
Don, that does not sound like you. I like reading your replies and how you keep us on our toes. I appreciate your knowledge and I know I'm not the only one out there that does. I would'nt let a few people bother me. Hold your head high and let th…

Yes, I beleive you can collect unemployment. It's called a hostile work environment. Call your unemployment agency and ask them.

Don't forget pre-employment physical and drug screen if that is a requirement.

Tell your ees to visit Wisconsin in the winter. They would be in for a real treat.
-
I would offer the employee's who had to stay, a 1/2 day off with pay down the road. That would be a fair solution.
-
Right on Don. I think in this particular family business it is the blind leading the blind. Mom rules the roost and it's to bad.
-
I agree with Paul. Why do you want the employee to apologize? You are humiliating her. It sounds to me like your mother should be apologizing.
-
I agree with whatever. You need to sit down and talk to your mother. Let her know the type of legal ramifications that could come about with her actions. I would also keep them apart as much as possible. Why does your mother dislike this person …
