One typo CAN cause a world of difference. A couple years ago I looked up "The Louve" (with my MOM sitting with me) when I meant to look up "The Louvre". It wasn't pretty!

Whoa! I have to say, I thought that kind of thing only happened in the movies. This thread has definitely enlightened me to union environments with strikes going on.
-
Wow, that is really terrible. What did you do? Did you say anything to the police? Just curious. That would be really scarey.
-
True, it isn't a lot of time and being prepared is better safe than sorry. I think the idea on the security guard is a good one too.
-
LSerafin - I don't have an answer but I do have a question. Don't health care facilities have to be given a 10 day notice before their workers strike? I thought I read that somewhere. If this is so, it may give you some more time to get workers a…

x:o Holy moly! You should have said "While you're at it, I'll need their social security numbers too. Thanks!" Sheesh!
-
Just curious - what makes you think it's forged?
-
Sounds like a good practice. Wish they would do that here!

Can I just say it still amazes the heck out of me that people think it's okay to ask these types of questions? Hello? Bueller?
-
CQ - Reread Don's post, he is correct. A lot of states say that "certain" questions are not illegal, but even if they aren't most labor attorneys and gov't agencies would tell you it's not a good idea to ask them because if the information gleaned …

Stand your ground. You are doing nothing wrong. You don't even have to give out the info you do give out per your policy. Tell him to talk a long walk, cool down, and consult the law books his damn self if he doesn't believe you.
-
be careful DJ, I saw the fuzz around here not to long ago... x:=|

AnneHa - thank you so much for posting that link. Great info for all of us all over the country.

Handle what? Is the manager freaking out or something?

What is wrong with finding info on companies on the Internet? It's a great way to see what's out there. There are shisters everywhere, but anyone who sees a web site once and signs up for $1,000+ worth of products or services without thoroughly che…

Welcome to the forum Coach. It seems to me that a lot of companies use a little of this and a little of that and come up with their own program rather than send people to an outside seminar. That way the content can be controlled and, if needed, t…

I'm guessing your with a public agency. What in the heck is a "title 32 special district?" Is that some special Colorado-lingo? x:D

Lots of good advice from formites so far. I have never been in this situation, and I wouldn't want to be...so I feel for you but have no advice to give. However, I also feel for the employee...this kind of thing chokes me up actually. I just wa…

Heck, sign me up to be a balloon twister!

I have heard of this as well - but in a cultural/ethic context and not a religious one. I have also heard that in some Asian cultures pictures are never taken of three people - only two or four and above. Has to do with something about someone who…

I think the "proper" term is "mumbo-jumbo" x:D

Do you perchance have a relative that goes by the name Aluminum Boy? x;-)
-
Deej is right - I guess I assume everyone is a stick in the mud about policies like my company is x:)
-
Wow, lots of crack smoking going on these days. Anywho...I would still stick to the policy even if the expenses were incurred in 2003. You blatantly have a policy that states the terms and I would stick to them with this ex ee as well as all curre…

I agree - he has GOT to be smoking crack! I would stay within the parimeters of the policy and tell him to go take a long walk off a short pier if he doesn't like it.

The beauty of the forum is the pure, unadulterated hijacking of threads that occurrs on a consistent basis. Usefulness is a term we don't concern ourselves with around here. 8-}

Very interesting indeed. AND two points for teaching me a new vocabulary word (I had to look up "ennui"!). As the Teletubbies say...."big hug" xhugs
-
Marc, I agree...it IS like watching a train wreck in slow motion! I generally trust posters to be who they say they are, but I'm sure there are some who are "double agents" out there whether I know about it or not. It's kind of a pain for those of…

I don't think your business doesn't exist because the web site doesn't work. I just think it's kinda odd that you would put the web site in your profile if it wasn't created yet. Or perhaps it is created and is experiencing technical difficulties.…
