Ha! You must have crappy eyesight. Most people say a half-mile or so!

I learned something important a long time ago, Paul. Once you learn to embrace your inner buffoon, it no longer matters what she's laughing at... She's laughing, and that's good.

I could change it on the fly if not for the tiny tiny resolution limits. (hint, hint)

That's what we did, Carol. I still oppose the decision. Our move didn't have much to do with the 'additional' comments made as part of the signature - there were some really nice saying that supported the business and allowed some sense of indivi…

haha - could be! Time for a new picture, I guess. Or maybe this one wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so in-your-face big.

Hey, someone has to provide the bad examples for you to turn into learning opportunities. That's my niche.

I did a terrible job of following protocol on my latest FMLA. This employee has been on FML several times during her few years with us. I got lax, and assumed she knew the drill as well as anyone... so I skipped mailing her the notice and making he…

I bought a copy, Margaret, but I was very disappointed to see it wasn't written in Haiku. Other than that, I liked it very much.
Good luck, Frank.
I am awaiting further direction from counsel. And those of you who have known me for these past few years also know how much I hate awaiting further direction from counsel.

I didn't know it ever was... I haven't been, but I'm going to start after my latest fiasco.
I think by Oregon law it has to be grey and misty at least half the year here.
Yes... the half of the year that occurs after sunup and before sundown.

I generally don't mind bumper stickers and such, although I don't have any on my vehicle. I do have several Christian t-shirts, although I don't wear them often - due primarily to what is referred to in our family as "The Read The Book Incident", wh…

You only have two posts, as well. It looks to me as if you've been reincarnated .

Ender's Game was excellent. I haven't moved to Shadow yet. My next read will be Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger. It's psychodrama fiction, not to be confused with the other Contortionist's Handbook, which is literally a guide for peopl…

I can see why I'm on the wrong track, Nae... the last time it came up, it was a maternity issue. She was medically okay to come back to work, but wanted to stay home with the baby. In CU HR's case, it sounds like the employee is NOT medically okay…

Morale is not necessarily an issue, although MJD shouldn't rule it out. In most organizations, I think there's an assumption that benefits will be better for senior management. In fact, most people generally assume (and accept) the gap is much w…

Well, I have all next week to figure it out.

Welcome Credit Union HR! I have a very similar situation coming up next week. As I understand it, we are allowed to treat a "failure to return from leave" as a voluntary termination for ARRA purposes. If that is not the case, someone here wil…

You'll need to create a new class of employee for the executives, then add the job title - not the name of the employee. And please, please, please tell me the current group of individuals who would qualify is not all white and male.

(I added that last part for Sharon.)

This comes on the heels of their Senator, Lindsay Graham, complaining that health care reform will bankrupt South Carolina because the population there has a high percentage of blacks.

Paul, what was confusing about "Friend of God"? I assumed that meant she found Him through His Facebook page. Was that wrong?
-
I forgot to say this... Regardless of how you feel about the signature itself, I think Paul's right - you have to ask the complainer what it is about the signature they find offensive. There are a whole range of petty complaints people can make abo…

We have a policy against proselytizing, but we don't define it in the policy. If an employee was stopping by other employees' desks and spreading the gospel, I'd have an issue with it. But an e-mail signature... well, you can read it or not. It's l…

We moved to a standardized e-mail signature for everyone. It wasn't for that reason, but it would solve your problem. I think the recipient who complains about something like this is a bigger problem than e-mail signatures, though.

Can you prove that?
-
Nope. Not good enough for the President, not good enough for you.

In my former life as WOCO Frank, I developed a good one, but the key was that I avoided trying to make it perfect and all-encompassing. I even had a list of contacts for companies that would come in and clean up the blood if a clerk got shot, as we…

I presume that's what the Morse code is for.
If the phones go down, how are you going to call for service? I don't see smoke signals on your list of requirements. O:)
Can you prove it? And not with that phony baloney birth certificate the state of Hawaii gives you... but a REAL one.
Darn it, Frank. There you go picking on me again. I was born in Hawaii.::angryface::
