RE: HR Daily Advisor - Forbidden interview questions.
Today's HR Daily Advisor topic was forbidden interview questions. There were 2 on the list that I'd like clarity on.
"Do you want to tell me about any of your memberships relating to the performance of this job?"
"How long do you plan to work on this job?"
Can somebody explain to me why these questions are illegal?
Thanks.

Hi, Donna.
Good catch on the first question. That's supposed to be an example of the question you can ask--the question to avoid is the general question about activities and memberships, which could elicit information you don't want about protected characteristics.
The second question is potentially dangerous because it may discriminate against women, particularly if asked only of women.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for your sharp eye,
