Service Awards

I am looking to change our service award program from the same old thing.

Can anyone send me what they do for 5, 10 etc employees?

  • In the company that I work for, we have a monthly bagel meeting to discuss company items of interest.  One of the things that happens at this meeting is recognition of anyone that has a significant service record that month by the president of the company.  A distinctive service record includes 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, and 20 years.  The 5 and 10 year awards usually consist of a gift (pen, vase, clock, etc.).  The 15 year and 20 year awards are monetary awards.  We have not yet had anyone beyond the 20 year award mark but will have a person shortly arriving there and we are presently discussing what the award will be.

  • We have a service awards ceremony followed by the annual company barbecue.  We honor those with 5, 10, etc. anniversaries with both a jewelry gift and a monetary gift.  The gifts increase in value as the service length increases.  5 yr recipients receive a silver charm shaped like the company logo and a $50 gift cheque, 10 yr gets gold plus $100, then we start adding stones and $10 for every year of service.  Hope this helps with your ideas!
  • Hey, the latest thing in service awards is -- adventures!  Mini ones such as a day trip on an excursion boat, lunch and a theater matinee, pampering at a spa, or a full-day lesson in pottery or hang gliding for 5 years and, increasing in time and value up through 10 and 15 years to big adventures for 20 years--like a cool fishing trip!  There are several providers you can find online.

Of course, I always think that a milestone should be remembered with something the employee can put on his or her desk or work station, such as a plaque, clock, etc. to be recognized and admired by colleagues.

  • Our service awards are presented at our quarterly meetings which includes the whole company.

We have a 1 year, 3 year, 5 year, 8 year, 10 year and every 5 years after that.

For each one you get a certificate, which have different sayings on each different years award.

For 1 year they get a $15.00 gift certificate to a local business of our choice.

3 year award is a $50.00 gift certificate to a local business of their choice,

5 years is a $125.00 gift certificate to a local business of their choice,

8 years is a $175.00 gift certificate to a local business of their choice,

10 years is a $250.00 gift certificate to a local business of their choice.

Then it goes up $250.00 for every five years after that.

Everyone seems to look forward to their awards.

  • We give service awards for years of service in 5 year increments.  The dollar value starts at $30 for 5 years and increases with each 5 years (10 is $50; 15 is $80; 20 is $100; 25 is $125; $25 dollars is added for each additional 5 years after 25).  Each year a number of items (usually 10-13) are chosen that range from hats - jackets - watches - pen sets - shirts - game sets - etc.  The value of each item varies so that the employee can choose any item or combination of items to total what their dollar amount is.  We send a sample kit of the items routing it to each location so that the employees can view and check size before making their choices on their selection sheet.  All items have our name and logo on it.  We are currently looking at increasing the dollar amount and are interested in seeing what other companies offer.
  • We give pins starting at 10 years.  They go by 5 year increments.  Then at 20 years, we give a watch and have a presentation with cake, etc.  for 25, 30, 35 years, we have the cake, etc. and normally give a monetary gift based on years of service.  Our company is 38 years old, so we are having to come up with ideas as we hit the milestones.  Not sure what we will do for 40 years.

Have also looked at the system of using a catalog for the employee to pick their choice of gift - so it is something they really want.  There are several companies out there that will customize the catalog for you.  The gifts are lesser in value for less time, but they still get a nice choice.

     Not that helps!
