Hi all,
I’m HR of a Company in California. Actually I want to verify birth record of each and every employee of my company. I have some way but they are unable provide easily. Can someone help me to search out the birth records?
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!

you should talk with your company's attorney before proceeding because this practice could be seen as discriminatory. as far as i know you are supposed to allow employees to choose which documents they use to prove identity and employment eligibility (as long as the documents are on the list of acceptable documents established by the government).

I agree. If you require employees to produce birth records, you better treat everyone the exactly the same as far as any consequences.

I would really stop and get some legal advice on this. Employers may only ask employees for documents necessary to complete the I-9 form in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the United States. So, asking for birth records could be a violation of the law.

In addition, discriminating against someone on the basis of national origin or citizenship is prohibited by federal law and the law in many states. Birth records provide information that could be used to discriminate on either basis--so what's the purpose of asking for these documents???
