Candles at work??

Ok, I saw this topic in an article I read today and had to see what you all thought...

This worker wrote into an advice column about an co-worker who burns scented candles in her cube at work. I was just dumbfounded that any employer would allow this. First, the obvious - fire hazard!! And, I suppose the person who wrote in was complaining that they smell.

Does anyone think this is as bizzare as I do??

Yeah, I have never heard of such a thing! We would never allow this at our workplace. In fact, we don't even allow space heaters. I would ban this for both the reasons you describe - smell and fire hazard - even though some employees might find it makes for a relaxing and peaceful work environment....ZZZZZZZ

Did anyone ask the employee why she was burning the candles?

What if it is part of a religious ceremony or sincerely held belief?

Hey, just ask her what she is going to say to everyone if she sets off the sprinkler system.
