What is happening with the minimum wage hike?

I heard that the Senate passed the minimum wage increase, but I have not seen any news about when it becomes effective . . . any help?

Unfortunately, the House of Representatives and the Senate haven't agreed yet on the minimum wage bill. I think they will pass the bill into law, but it could take some time for them to reach mutually agreeable terms.

I read this morning that the House will likely vote this week on a bipartisan version of the minimum wage bill that includes some modest tax breaks for small business. Sounds like a new minimum wage may be closer now.
