I turned 40 last Friday. So now you guys have to show me some respect.

I actually missed work that day but not because I was partying. I was sick in bed. I came by on Saturday and found my office had been given the full treatment.

I guess I missed a cake on Friday and so on Saturday our HR administrator dropped off a home-made blackberry pie. I couldn't believe it!

Even better, my office was cleaned up when I came back to work today.

That was actually the strangest part of turning 40, Dutch. The realization that 50 is just 10 short years away.

Otherwise I feel great. I stay active. I can still run a comb through my hair. If age brings wisdom, I say bring it on!

Oh wow, you are right! I didnt think about that. Is there any special privileges to being in a protected class that I can enjoy now? Is there an orientation I need to attend. Thats so fantastic!

Thanks! Turning 40 is kind of like having someone you dont really want to talk to you catch up to you and corner you for a long, drawn out, unwanted chat. You just have to resign yourself to the fact that you can't escape aging forever.
