"If an employee is unable to present a required document (or documents), the employee must present an acceptable receipt in lieu of a document listed on the page...." "Receipts showing that a person has applied for an initial grant of employment authorization, or for renewal of employment authorization are not acceptable."

What does an "acceptable receipt in lieu" look like? We have hired someone that has just moved into the community. She has her driver's license but cannot locate/find her SS card or any other approved document.

When she goes to the SS office to apply for a new card she should get a slip of paper from them showing that is has been ordered and how long it will take for her to get it. I have taken this in the past and then when they get their card they have to bring it to me.

Thank you for your quick response. Turned out to be mute point... our new hire keep digging through packing boxes and finally found the required documents just in the knick of time. Thanks muchly.
