Private Messages

Is there a way that one can view private messages once they are sent? There have been times that I wanted to read something that I sent to another but can't, unless they respond in the same message. I guess I could use the e-mail button unless the forum member has disabled it.

Don's wife respects his right to privacy and his right to a private life and would never invade his privacy and dilly-dally in his private conversations. Not would he invade hers. It's as simple as that. I don't dance on the precarious edge of wondering if a family member will discover my commentary and judge or penalize me for it.

Ok, this is probably a stupid question,x:-8 but once you send a private message, where does it go? Does it get emailed into the person's email program or is it stored somewhere here on the site? How do you know when you've received one?

When you are in the forum "lobby", you may notice a little red flag and it will say something like "you have new messages in your inbox". You click on the red flag or the message and you will be taken to your forum inbox.

I'll send you a message so you'll be able to see the red flag. Have a good day!

I was just checking my account setup and preferences and I'm not sure if I have everything set right. I have inbox enabled but I have email disabled. Will that impact it?

To HR Hero - this might be a good instruction to add to the FAQ cause I did check those out but couldn't find anything telling me how to check the messages.

Wow - so glad I asked that question because I've now discovered the "inbox", the hidden world underneath HR Hero that I never knew existed! And it turns out I had messages in there from March! Apologies to those who sent messages and never heard from me.x:-8

I'll be a much better participant now that I know what the darn red flag means on the lobby of the forum! x:D

Just to clarify, the private inbox and the email feature don't interface at all. They're parallel conduits to joyful conversation. If your email and that of the person you are trying to email are enabled, click the email icon and you are into the email function just as you would be without Hero. The private mail function just allows you to slip a somewhat secret note into their little private inbox. But, as I've told several people who sort of like to chat dangerously, I have discovered a way to reach in and read some of those too. x:-)

I feel like such a newbie participant today with my inbox and I'm enjoying it so much!:DD I never even noticed the darn inbox icon as one of the things to select at the top of the screen, much less that little red flag. Now I've become more obsessive about hitting refresh to see if the red flag appears than caring as much about new posts in the forums!x:-8

Uh-oh, now that I have discovered this cool "inbox underground" of HR Hero's Forum, I now am far too busy with those private emails and don't have time to be checking forum posts!x:7
