Suggest New Conference Board

About a year ago, Paul, I think it was, suggested a new conference board and as a result, the HR de Har Har board was born. It has served a great purpose, allowing venting, steam release and lots of humor. Although at times, we have a thread to post that is by no means funny, there seems to be nowhere to put it. Like the current one about 9/11 and borders. Or Irene's thread about her daughter and the Peace Corps.

It's not really HR related but it is not at all funny, thus was not originally posted to the funny board. What about a conference board for things that may not be HR related, yet are not humorous, or not intended to be?

Anne Williams and Tammy Binford have been talking for a couple of days about what to do with threads that aren't funny and aren't HR, either.

I'm reluctant to add new sections because the Forum could get too fragmented. Then you get sections like the poor, neglected ADA, where questions don't get a lot of readership or discussion compared with HR & Employment Law. In fact, I've been tossing around the idea of combining the ADA section with FMLA and perhaps Workers' Comp.

For now, I'd like to put unfunny, unlegal threads in HR-de-har-har, so HR-de-har-har is the catch-all for topics that don't fit in another area of the Forum. That's kinda how it already is. I've changed the description of HR-de-har-har in the Lobby to help this a little.

Maybe we should rename it, but I really love the name "HR-de-har-har!" x:7

While I love the name HR de Har Har, we might want to rename it later, depending on its serious-to-funny ratio. A great name would be "Whatever," but then we'd have a stampede of other Forumites wanting sections named after them, like Ray-topia or Beaglemania. 8-}

That is a great idea, though, to combine WC, FMLA and ADA. I always think in tandem when I think of one or the other or both or all three. A true kaleidoscope of three shades of dull brown. I vote to combine them. I visit them daily.

I vote for keeping the HR de Har har and doing away with any or all of the others.

We never touch upon one of those topics exclusive of the other two. It's the HR Bermuda Triangle. They should be combined.

I agree with Don on combining WC, FMLA and ADA. And, I agree with James, it should be named Whatever (this is from a person who does not (at least not often) have an inflated view of her brilliance :~~ )
