Fried Turkey

I was looking at those pots that are designed to deep fry turkies. Does anyone have one and if so, does it do a good job? Does it leave it tasting really greasy? I was thinking of getting one for my daughter.

They are excellent, it takes about 10 minutes per pound. You need to use Peanut Oil in the pot and if you can find the injection kits they really are good! The turkey will be very moist and good tasting...

Bob, are you sure about that 10 minutes per pound? I go with 3 minutes per pound. I use the injector to inject about 2 cups of marinate into the turkey.

Excellent way to cook a turkey. They turn out nice and moist, but not greasy.

I rarely deep fry anything so forgive me for asking this but...What do you inject the turkey with and does the instrument come with the deep fryer? Do you inject the marinade into the fattest part of the turkey?

Depending on the cooker that you buy, some have the injector. If not go to either Home Depot or Lowe's and they sell them and the marinade. You can get cajun and other types of marinade. It will also show you the areas of the turkey to inject...

Cheryl, I bought the injector from the same company that makes the fryer. I believe I ordered it. For marinade, I use a mixture of teryaki sauce, white wine, garlic, and paprika. I inject it into any part of the turkey that looks lonely. Most goes into the white meat areas, but I do inject the legs and wings and thighs too. It's fun to watch the turkey swell up.
