This was passed down to me by my late Grandmother Myers, who would be 110 now. I've decided to publish her recipe after keeping it fairly secret for the past 30 years.
1 Qt. can Campbell's Pork 'N' Beans (use no other)
3/4 box Domino Dark Brown Sugar
1 large white onion
6 strips bacon
1 medium bell pepper
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
*Drain beans, disposing of liquid
*Fry bacon medium crisp (retaining grease), lay on paper towels to cool
*Mince onion, cube bell pepper, crumble bacon and combine all ingredients in large glass caserole with lid, stirring well.
*Stir in 1/2 of the bacon grease, and discard the rest.
Place covered caserole dish on a cookie sheet in oven. Bake 3 hours, stirring thoroughly at 1 hour.

Hamburger? She divorced him, right? Ouch!!
I like to toss in some ketchup, onion powder, French's yellow mustard, a little garlic powder - makes them more tangy and less sweet. x:-)
