One iron skillet
One thick slice balogna (called 'nickel slice')
Two slices bread, buttered
One slice pepper-jack cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
In a cast iron skillet heated to medium, add two drops oil or bacon grease. Add one thick slice balogna. Cut edge of balogna inward one inch to prevent curling. Flip, browning each side.
Lightly and evenly butter one side of each bread slice. Remove balogna, placing one slice bread in skillet, butter side down. Place balogna on top of bread.
Place slice of pepper-jack cheese on top of balogna and complete sandwich with other slice of bread, buttered side up.
Toast the bread, flipping the sandwich, exactly as you would a grilled cheese sandwich. Be sure it's golden brown and crunchy.
Romove, cut in half, enjoy. Man O Man. The pepper-jack cheese is the perfect addition.

I'll have to try Don's recipe, sounds great - especially at 5AM. I had a craving for a good open faced balogna sandwich the other day and asked my wife to buy some good balogna when she did the grocery shopping. She came home with cheap turkey balogna - baloony!!

You can take the boy out of Arkansas, but ya can't take Arcansaw out of the boy.
Have a great weekend,

Don, you have to be kidding. I just can't believe you'd really eat that stuff. Sorry, I tried not to post on this cause I'll probably get slammed, but every time you post,it just gets worse. Tell me you are kidding. If not, you are gonna die young and this is from someone who's not a real health nut - my arteries clod just reading this.

You're right, it really wasn't the artery clog, it was the spam and the bologna. Just a personal big ICK! And I have more than a sip of wine, trust me.
Elizabeth
From one Spam lover to another, you'll forgive me, won't you?
