Gas $1.99

Now that the democrats are in charge our gas prices have gone down from $2.17 one day to $1.99 the next. I filled up my vehicle, 32 gallon tank, and it stopped before hitting $60.00; I thought something was wrong with the pump. Don't know how low the gas prices will go or how long it will last, but is certainly is nice for a change. Now if the price for heating oil and natural gas for this winter will follow along...

We paid $3.75 this morning. I doubt if ours will ever get down below the $3 mark, but it was nice to only pay $84 to fill up, rather than $100 like we were paying not too long ago!

I filled up on Tuesday night as the attendant was out there changing the numbers on the sign. I paid $1.97! It was nice to fill the tank for under $30.00.

I haven't seen $1.99 yet but I have heard you can find it in Portland. That would almost feel nostalgic.

Too bad you cant stock up on gas.

I was excited last week when I saw it for $2.27. I haven't had to fill up this week yet, so it may be lower. For an oil producing state we don't get the best prices.

FYI They have this neat new invention you may have heard of called - gas cans. Or maybe you could invest in some oil drums and a siphon hose...

Anybody heard what gas is going for in Southern California right now? I'm heading down there on vacation on Sunday so it'll be interesting to see...it's gotta be cheaper than it is up here, anyway!

Hey cnghr, I'm just outside of Los Angeles and I got gas at $2.48/gallon. Crazy I could fill my Tahoe for $42.00 when I couldn't even fill the tank before the pump would stop at $100.

Tch Tch Dutch. I see you are already claiming credit for the dems for things that really had nothing to do with them (or the republicans for that matter). Have you not heard that OPEC has already met and plans to reduce the supply to bring prices back up? I guess we can all tell you it is the dems fault when the price goes back up, and it will, soon.

Yep, been hearing 'bout that for some time. Plus about a new group that is being or has formed along the lines of a GPEC that hopes to be able to ensure the price of natural gas will also be controlled. But I can't claim credit for dems as I voted for the other guy... Having lived in Arkansas during the Clinton years, when he was working his way up through the ranks to Gov is enough to turn anyone into a Republican.

The price is likely to go back up a bit, regardless of election results, due to the annual winter conversion of production to heating oil.

Paid $1.86 at Sam's Club in the western part of the state yesterday; still $2.29 here in our town -- we always seem to be higher!

We actually flew to Southern California on our vacation and drove a rental while we were down there, and enjoyed only having to pay $2.35 or so a gallon. Got back home and ours is STILL at $3.75! There was a letter to the editor in our local newspaper last week where a guy who lives here but who travels to the "lower 48" often and he was asking why everyone else's gas prices have dropped so dramatically and ours have stayed right where they've been for the past month or more. All the stations in town are charging the same amount and they say it's because it's shipped up here on barges and that's what they have to pay so that's what they charge us. I think they're totally feeding us a line, but as long as everybody in town charges the same amount, it's going to stay that way, I'm sure. After coming back from the "real world" and seeing the prices down there I'm just thoroughly disgusted that we're still paying as much as we are!

I would be disgusted too! The real question is, did your prices drop at least $2 per gallon? If you were paying $1.40 more last summer, and you are still paying about that much more then perhaps they are right about the barges. However, if your prices only dropped $1 when everyone else's dropped $2, then something is rotten in Denmark. Don't you have newspapers or television news that investigate this kind of thing? (Normally you can turn to a government agency for protection, but when they are getting taxes based on the high prices....)

Nae, the taxes shouldn't be affecting their judgement. Gas is one of the few products on which gas is collected on a per-unit basis, rather than as a percentage of the sale price. In other words, if your state collects 22-cents-a-gallon tax, it doesn't matter how much the gallon costs.

Our gas only dropped 80 - 90 cents a gallon before it came to rest at $3.75. I know our prices have generally been at least a little bit more than what everyone in the lower 48 pays but this is the first time in my memory that there's been such a large gap.

Yeah, that was my take on it too. She's been so busy making t.v. appearances and fielding book offers, etc., not to mention the whole idea of running in 2012, that I don't see how she could possibly be governing the state!
