This area has been way too quiet. How about we celebrate fall by posting a lot about nothing. Who will be the 100th poster? Winner receives an all expense paid trip to Casa Blanca where they can be guaranteed to do a lot of nothing.

We're not having snow and that's a darned good thing...with the amount of rain we've been having lately, we'd be completely buried in no time if it were snow! We had 4.5 inches of rain on Tuesday alone and I imagine close to that much yesterday also, along with gale-force winds. Yuck!

It is warm and sunny in the Phoenix area. Highs are in the 80's to low 90's, I believe. xB-)

ALLLLL RIGHT! A thread where I can contribute!! I haven't had much time to commit to the blogs lately but if we're talking about nothing, I'm in! It's getting close to election day so maybe people will relax afterward and start getting happy again; unless the election goes the wrong way of course. But that's a different and unrelated subject; back to you Dave.

I may just be having another senior moment (or just pleasantly confused as they call it at the home) but I do not recall ever receiving so many phone calls every darn evening from all of the various political candidates and folks coming to our front door; at least one sometimes two or three every evening... wanting to tell me all about their candidate or taking a poll and wanting to know who I am supporting in the upcoming election. We quit answering the phone weeks ago, gotta luv those answering machines, and now we have even stopped going to the front door. If it is someone we want to talk with, we will recognize their voice or they will leave a message and if the person at the front door is friend or family, they know we will be in the den located at the back of the house and they will come around to the den door. Personally I will be glad when this election is in the books.

We were just commenting this morning on how tired we are of political ads on t.v. Not only do we get the national stuff and our state stuff, the main NBC channel we watch is from Seattle so we're inundated with Washington State's political ads, too. I feel like if I were a resident there I could comfortably vote in their election at this point!

Luckily, we haven't been getting too many phone calls lately. We've gotten a couple from our recently-convicted felon senator, Ted Stevens, but not too many others so at least we don't have to avoid answering the phone. I signed our phone number up on the Do Not Call Registry and had forgotten that political stuff was exempt from that, but even so it hasn't been too bad.

Frank is probably about to jump out of his pants (if he wore any) with the thought of a Democratic president and a Democratic controlled Congress within reach.

When the minimum wage is $11.75 per hour and we have paid-FMLA (expanded to 24 weeks per year) and the ADA officially covers ugly people, poor social skills, and "March Madness", lets find a special way to thank Frank.

cnghr- It is interesting that you get all the Washington State political ads. I live in Vancouver Washington and we don't get any. We get all the Oregon political ads as we are just across the river. If it wasn't for the voters pamplet I would not even know what was going on in WA. Apparently the candidates don't consider Vancouver a part of Washington.

We rarely get phone calls and have never had anyone knocking on the door. I guess in that way we are lucky.

plynnl - that is interesting. I know a lot of people who seem to consider Vancouver part of Oregon...I can't tell you how many times people have told me they're moving to Portland and it ended up they were actually moving to Vancouver. Maybe they figured I'd know more where Portland is located than Vancouver, or just because they're so close that even though they're in different states, people consider Vancouver part of Portland!

Since we don't have local news channels here the closest we can get to local is King 5 news out of Seattle, which is why we end up seeing every darned one of their political ads a million times in one newscast. I've gotten so I hate some of the Washington candidates on principle because their ads are so annoying!

Let's see, we have beat politics and the price of gas to death. How about the weather? We had shorts weather earlier this week, and now I am in a sweatshirt freezing. Has it turned to winter yet where you are? (People from North Dakota need not reply. We already know you are buried in snow.)

It has been beautiful here (Memphis) this week - highs in the low 70's and sunny. I sincerely hope the cold you are dealing with stays to the North! Last weekend we went walking and had a picnic at a large park here and I am hoping the weather will hold out so we can go this weekend. It is going to get cold soon enough...

I have been looking into places to move recently - I'm thinking ND, SD and KS may be off the short list now. x0:)
