Out with the Old, in with the New

Friday night I'll be home curled up on the sofa alone (hubby will no doubt be in bed sleeping) with a fire in the fireplace, watching the ball drop at midnight.

Oh to be in my 20's again and live close enough to drive to Time Square. They are supposed to have decent temps for the festivities.

What are y'all doing to bring in the New Year?

I will be at my neighbor's house with my fiancee. The last couple of years we have done this. Our neighbor's have a catered party complete with bonfire and fireworks. It's always a great time!

Absolutely nothing but relax and enjoy a long weekend of recovery from the Christmas holiday. Probably won't even stay awake to watch to ball drop.

My traditional new years eve is watching Casablanca and watching the ball drop in New York then going to bed, course that means it's only 11 pm but thats ok. I'm not THAT old, but new years eve always seemed like forced gaiety to me so I kind of ignore it. Last year I had a visitor on New Years eve, was watching the movie and dogs started barking, looked out the door and there was a great big possum walking along my fence. Maybe he'll come back to visit this year, be better than the dates I've had lately...

Same as every year-go up to the Penthouse for a party and watch the fireworks in the park. It's a tradition since I moved into this building 23 yrs. ago.

My son is getting married tomorrow evening, so this evening and tomorrow will be hectic, but New Year's Eve will mean an early movie and dinner out for my wife and I (our tradition), then home and off the roads before 9:30. I'm sure I'll sleep before midnight, but will probably watch the ball drop, that is, unless I'm still recuperating from Thursday evening. As long as I'm buying, I might as well enjoy it! I've never actually been out at midnight on New Year's Eve, not even when I was in my 20's. Kind of strange when I think about it. My wife says I was born old.

I believe I was born old too. I had to play mom most of the time to my siblings so it grew me up fast...but you know what they say, "you're only as young as you feel" which makes me about 25 x;-)

I'll be curling up on the sofa with the woman of (in) my dreams, like two spoons curved warmly into the fluid beauty of each other's linear secrets, waiting for the fire to gain intensity, knowing that will cause us to kick the blanket off and wrestle each other out of our warmups. THEN things get 'R' rated. Contrary to popular notion, fireworks do not have to wait till midnight.

No HR, some of us just capitalize on our opportunities. Gimme a good fire, a soft couch, a good blanket and a good woman bein' bad and we won't need any VS poses. We'll make our own! x:-) And, my wife is a sound sleeper. x}>

I know what I want to be doing xI-) But not likely to be. Have had a house full of a variety of family, snowbirds etc since the 23rd. Had last night off, but today was in charge of my co-worker's retirement party and tonight my dearest friends and God children are coming from Atlanta so we will be hanging around the fireplace, eating WAY too much and drinking a little too much. Can't wait, BUT will also be oh so greatful for my couch on Sunday. Have a safe one my friends.

I'll be in Ohio at Mom's with family and in-laws. We'll play 'name that tune' and drink some kind of warm wine. Everyone will crash long before the ball drops in Time Square, except me. I'm the winner. I'll daydream about other times and other places, then I'll drift away into 2005 with sweet things on my mind and tell him about it in the morning.

My son will be with us this weekend, so we'll eat a big meal, shoot fireworks, and let Robbie open his Christmas presents. He was with his dad for Christmas this year, so we're going to have a mini-Christmas onFriday. Can't wait! Have a very happy and safe new year, everyone!

I lived in COS for two years and don't remember that! Have they done it for long? Doesn't the glow from Cheyenne Mt. get in the way? :>)

Hubby and I will be at a comedy show with friends or hanging out with my parents. Either way, I'll be giving thanks that the year didn't end badly - he had somewhat of an emergency landing last night with his small plane. The short story is that the windshield was covered in oil and he had to stick his head out the window to see. It's almost funny now (since it turned out OK) - I'm picturing him looking like Snoopy on top the doghouse with his goggles on and scarf blowing in the wind, cursing the Red Baron.
