Speaking of Gas prices...don't support terrorism!

I received this e-mail recently and was surprised that I never stopped to think about this matter! Just wanted to give you all the info for yourselves:
**We CAN buy gasoline that's not from Middle East. Why didn't George W. think of this? Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even be good for us!
The Saudis are boycotting American goods. We should return the favor. An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import
Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/00 - 8/31/01):
Shell..................205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco.........144,332,000 barrels
Exxon/Mobil............130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway......117,740,000 barrels
Amoco..................62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Here are some large companies that DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo................0 barrels
Sunoco...............0 barrels
Conoco...............0 barrels
Sinclair.............0 barrels
BP/Phillips..........0 barrels
Hess.................0 barrels
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing. They report on a monthly basis. Keep this list in your car; share it with friends. Stop paying for terrorism.............
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers.
All you have to do is send this to 10 people. How much would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next eight days!**

I'm still waiting for Bill's check to arrive in the mail!

I found the summaries on the import / export of gas...in case anyone wants to look at it. I haven't gone into full detail at the site yet as to what companies import from where.

According to slopes.com, it would appear that Sunoco and Hess don't import from Middle Eastern countries. Even if it doesn't support terrorism, I am now more informed about where gas is imported from and where stations get their gas. I personally will buy gas from those places who don't import from the Middle East just on principle.
The second result "Will spurning gasoline from Shell, Chevron, Texaco, Exxon, and Mobil cut off the funding of terrorists?" notes that the e-mail is mostly inaccurate and lists accurate statistics on where the U.S. gets its oil, including a discussion on whether the theory of not buying gasoline from certain companies would actually help the cause.

Once again you've provided your forum friends with sound information; and, additionally, I now have another fascinating website resource to explore!
Let's see....... Hmmm. What about that Glurge Remedy?
I always wonder if these e-mails have truth in them or not, but it certainly seems plausible that if we're getting our gas and oil from the countries where terrorism is born, that they would get a piece of that money.
I'm going to check out the site myself as well as checking out the Department of Energy as it says in the original e-mail to see what stations import from what countries. I'd rather buy gas at a station that imports from Venezuela rather than Iraq any day!
I'll be buying all my gas at HESS from now on.

Right. I understand those guys import through a French Connection. And, we all have recently learned where the French connection terminates. Iraq!
