weekend premium pay

Our staff (healthcare)currently earn an additional lump sum (20) for working on a weekend. These staff memebers are subject to a variety of work hours, as they are called in to provide specialty treatment to hospitalized patients. The premium is not based on hours worked, they get the same ammount for a 5 hour day as a 10 hour day, plus the regular hourly rate of course. Is this a violation of wage and hour??

If it is a 5 hour service, then it is 4 dollars an hour premium, and if it is a 10 hour day, then its only 2 dollars. But its a lump sum, so I wanted more opinions.
