We do not cover any cost for smoking cessation programs or medications. We also do not provide any coverage for mental/nervous or drug/alcohol treatment programs.
Those of you who have self-funded plans: Do you advise that we include these items? What has their inclusion actually cost you? (In other words, how much utilization of those benefits do you see?)

Because we have our insurance administered by a third party, they help control the costs and only authorize/admit into licensed facilities or programs.(smoking cessation - FDA approved drugs fall under our RX perscription co-pay plan)
We feel that our employees are our most valuable asset and we try to encourange and assist them in being "well".
Utilization has been minimal, but the good will earned by offering these benefits as part of the overall plan has been great.
I sincerely believe at least 2 of our employees lives have been saved.
We have an onsite health club for our guests and our employees have access to this also.
